Hotel Web Design - Douglas Arms
The Douglas Arms Hotel is a mid-Victorian coaching inn offering comfortable and homely accommodation at reasonable rates. The hotel is situated on the main street of Banchory, 18 miles west of Aberdeen - the famous 'Granite City'. It provides an excellent base for exploring the north-east of Scotland with many whisky distilleries, golf courses and castles all within the locality.
Prior to approaching Webcreationz, the owner of the Hotel already had a website with another provider. However, this website had been built using a template based system which gave little away regarding the real character of the Hotel, and thus did little to attract customers. Moreover, the company who originally developed this site, were charging very high rates for hosting, and the owner of the hotel was looking around for a better and more reasonable solution.
On approaching Webcreationz, we explained to him that we would be able to develop a custom designed website, including a domain name and include a year's hosting, for a price which was less than his existing hosting company were proposing to charge for the forthcoming year of hosting.
Due to the considerable distance between Cheshire and Aberdeenshire the majority of design and development work was carried out via email, telephone and the web.
We received images and information on the Hotel via email, and also received a number of paper documents including the Hotel Brochure, Menu and History.
From this information, we were able to build the four page site, our aim being to illustrate the hotel in the best possible way, and also the entice potential clients with images of the Hotel and Scotland which were stong but not cliched.
The entire development cycle took approximately three weeks and at the end of this process the client was very satisfied with the site and he only required minor amendments to some of the textual content of the site before putting the site live.

As an indication of price, at current prices a similar site to Douglas Arms Hotel would cost approximately £300.
